As a veteran designer/jeweler of 40 yrs, I know precious metals. When you come to talk to me, I will work with you answering any questions you may have. I will explain the differences in karats and how the percentage of purity is reflected in the offer price. Different metals each have a unique value in the marketplace as do the various karats of gold, e.g., 10-14-18, etc. The same goes for products made with pure silver. There is pure silver (some coin and bullion type products), Sterling silver (most “silver” jewelry is made with this type), and Coin silver (as in silverware and flatware).
